Think head shop, without the bongs. As soon as you spot the "Hemp Sold Here" sticker on the front door, it's hard to miss the store's intended clientele. What it lacks in paraphernalia, The Big Iguana more than makes up for in merchandise. It contains enough silver rings (reasonably priced between $5 and $17) and single studs to keep your girlfriend searching for an hour and there's a woman's clothing section that doesn't limit itself to the hippie set. The selection of incense, candles, candleholders, picture frames and vases kicks Hallmark's sentimental butt. An intriguing assortment of hot sauces tops off the impressive selection. Whatever else you're looking for, this place can probably satisfy that jones, whether it's a wooden flute, braided belt or handmade leather bound book that you're seeking. The jewel of the place is clearly its sweater collection. Half of the store is filled with stitched wool in all styles, from cardigans to hooded to crew neck. Some of them are even handmade in Nepal and Ecuador. Bring your wallet, though, the prices range from $40 - $60 (which -- when you think about it -- isn't that bad for a companion that will keep you nice and toasty all winter). Top all this off with a rack of tapestries, stickers, Phish bumper stickers, The Amish Punching Puppet, sodas, cool postcards and the third edition of "The Farmer's Almanac," and The Big Iguana will fill all your hippie needs (minus the headache of actual hippie contact).--Matt Ackerman
