Since it opened on Aug. 8, 1981, the Aquarium has been one of Baltimore's most popular attractions. A familiar and beloved part of the Baltimore skyline, the glass-topped, triangular building is perched on Pier 3 in the heart of Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The Aquarium may be beautiful on the outside, but the inside is even more breathtaking. More than 14,000 aquatic animals live within its four levels and 10 ongoing exhibits, such as the coral reef, the shark pool and a South American rain forest full of birds, poison dart frogs, sloths, tamarin monkeys, rain forest plants and real-live piranhas.
Visit the Amazon River Forest, help feed the 600 inhabitants of the Atlantic Coral Reef and come nose-to-nose with sharks during the Gallery Tour; or take the Dolphin Discovery Tour and learn what dolphins eat and how they are trained before watching the popular dolphin show.
While at the Aquarium make sure you save time for Play!, the participatory dolphin show where you get to enter the dolphins' world of learning, interaction and activity.
