Hammond-Harwood House is a now public, once private, residence that dates back to 1774, in the pre-Revolutionary War era. Designed by William Buckland, the house is considered a fine example of Georgian-style architecture and reflects the rather upscale lifestyle of residents of the Annapolis area in Colonial times.
Tours of the house take you through several very formal rooms decorated in the styles of the mid-18th and early 19th centuries. This house, like Government House and several others, features fine furnishings and art, including portraiture by the Peale family.
Call for more information on special events occurring throughout the year, which focus on Colonial history and art forms.
