Where to find Halloween treats

Halloween candy

Candy corn

Whether you're looking to pass out candy corn to a gaggle of goblins, or you want to please a single trickster, here is a list of great places to find Halloween candy.

Economy Candy. Since 1937, Economy Candy has been selling candy on the Lower East Side. Which kind of makes it Halloween Central: If you're expecting a horde of goblins, go for the 10-pound bag of chocolates -- individually wrapped Kit-Kats, Baby Ruths, Butterfingers, Hershey Bars and such. Other ghastly faves: gummy brains ($3.49 per pound, wax fangs, 59 cents apiece, chocolate eyeballs, $3.49 per pound, candy corn, $2.50 per pound. (108 Rivington Street; 800-352-4544; www.economycandy.com)

Li-Lac Chocolates. For generations, this was the Village's favorite chocolate shop (it opened in the 1920s on Christopher Street). A few years ago it moved to a new address, but it still sells beautifully handcrrafted chocolates. For Hallowen, there are special chocolate pops, tiny witches, pumpkins, goblins -- even the odd molded chocolate coffin. (40 Eighth Avenue; 212-924-2280)

Dylan's Candy Bar. If you want to get really scary, there's a white-chocolate skull festooned with gummy worms; there's also a mini witches' cauldron filled with candy corn. (1011 Third Avenue; 646-735-0078)

Chocolate Bar. A perfect taste of the season is the shop's retro Caramel Apple bar, which packs all the flavor of an old-fashioned caramel apple, all wrapped up in milk chocolate. (48 Eighth Avenue; 212-367-7181)

Jacques Torres. It's getting to be that time of year again: Hot chocolate season. Pick up a tin of Torres' Wicked Hot Chocolate, flavored with cinnamon, ancho chili peppers, and smoked, ground chipotle chili peppers. (18 oz of mix; $18. 66 Water Street, Brooklyn; 718-875-9772; Jacques Torres Chocolate Haven, 350 Hudson Street; 212.414.2462)
