Newport News woman's vehicle damaged by gunfire on Thursday morning, officials say

A 52-year-old Newport News woman's property was damaged by gunfire in Newport News on Thursday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Ivy Avenue. Officers made contact with the victim, who stated her vehicle appeared to have a bullet hole on the driver’s side window, according to MPO Brandon Maynard of the Newport News Police Department.

The victim told police she heard several gunshots the night before around 10 p.m.  There were no reported injuries and the investigation remains ongoing, Maynard said.
