Police: Newport News woman’s vehicle damaged by gunfire

A 39-year-old Newport News woman’s car was damaged by gunfire on Wednesday morning, officials say.

Police responded around 9:50 a.m. to the 700 block of 35th Street and spoke with the victim. She told officials her vehicle’s windows were shattered, a bullet hole was in the rear driver’s side door and she recovered a partial bullet near her vehicle, according to Brandon Maynard of the Newport News Police Department.

According to Maynard, there was a report of gunshots heard the night before and there were no reported injuries. The investigation remains ongoing, he said.
