Police: 57-year-old Newport News woman's house and vehicle damaged by gunfire

A 57-year-old Newport News woman's house and vehicle were damaged by gunfire on Thursday morning, officials said.

Police were called around 7:50 a.m. to the 700 block of 22nd Street. They made contact with the victim, who told officials she found gunfire damage to her property. The damage included the woman's residence and vehicle that was parked in her driveway, according to Newport News Police MPO Brandon Maynard. 

The victim also told police she called dispatch at around 1 a.m. in reference to hearing several gunshots. Officers found several casings in the area that were placed into evidence, Maynard said.

According to officials, there were no reported injuries and the investigation remains ongoing.
