BAY RIVERS DISTRICT

LAFAYETTE (4-1, 4-0 district) AT YORK (4-1, 3-1)

WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday

WHERE: Bailey Field at York High.

THE BUZZ: This is an attractive matchup records-wise, but York faces a huge challenge keeping this one close. You can forget statistics in this one, although Lafayette has allowed only seven points total in four district games, while averaging nearly 35 points offensively is telling. Unless York, which is talented at the skill positions, can hold hold its own in the trenches, Lafayette will win its 47th consecutive district game handily.

THE PICK: Lafayette 35-7.

PENINSULA DISTRICT

HAMPTON (5-0, 5-0) VS. MENCHVILLE (2-3, 2-2)

WHEN: 7 p.m. Thursday.

WHERE: Todd Stadium.

THE BUZZ: As Hampton blanked Kecoughtan 31-0 last Friday, Menchville was getting shutout 39-0 by Norcom. Though the Monarchs have cleared the low bar set by the last four seasons (each of which ended with a 1-9 record), a victory against the Crabbers will remain aspirational. Hampton has not scored fewer than 28 points this season and should have no trouble scoring at least that many against Menchville.

THE PICK: Hampton 35-0.
