The origins of panettone can be found in Milan. One of the legends surrounding panettone claims that a falconer from the Sforza royal court fell in love with a poor baker's daughter and disguised himself so that he could work in the bakery. There, he used flour, eggs, butter, candied orange peel, and raisins to make a bread to win the love of this woman. Whether or not the legend is true, it doesn't stop Italians from enjoying this delicious sweet bread every Christmas season.
