NHL Winter Classic

The summer home of the Philadelphia Phillies, Citizens Bank Park, will be turned into a full-size ice rink for the NHL's fifth annual Winter Classic. Start your New Year's Eve with the Winter Classic Alumni Game, where six hockey Hall-of-Famers will join in the game. Fans can then enjoy a game between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers. Meanwhile, the outside of Citizens Bank Park will be transformed into Spectator Plaza, an outdoor hockey and entertainment festival. Enjoy hockey-themed activities, live music, food, prizes and giveaways.

The NHL Winter Classic Alumni Game starts at 1 p.m. Saturday on Dec. 31 at Citizens Bank Park, between Phillies Drive and Pattison Avenue. The Mummers Parade

Celebrate New Year's Day in Philadelphia with this annual parade that features 10,000 men and women dressed in lavish costumes. All four divisions, the Comics, Fancies, String Bands and Fancy Brigades, perform in the parade for a chance to win prizes. Enjoy a carnival-like atmosphere with family-friendly performances throughout the entire day.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. Jan. 1 and marches north up Broad Street, to City Hall. Fancy Brigades hold two ticketed competitions at the Pennsylvania Convention Center — one at noon and another at 5 p.m. The group then moves to the Mummer's clubhouses along Second Street for a party that lasts until the early morning. The annual ball drop in Times Square isn't the only thing going on New Year's Eve. Why limit yourself? There are events and activities before midnight.

Peeps Fest

Celebrate your love for the marshmallow confection with fellow Peeps' lovers at this third annual free event for the entire family.
