Hey, Southlanders, what are you doing this weekend?
If your answer is "Going to Solvang," here is a quick guide to sights you can see between the wedding or the wine tasting that brought you to this town 130 miles north of Los Angeles. These other activities help counterbalance Danish overdose and can be done with kids (in the case of the first stop, it's almost mandatory). Plus your out-of-pocket will be low, assuming you can resist a couple of sensory delights.

Stop No. 1: Quicksilver Ranch
Quicksilver Ranch, 1555 Alamo Pintado Road, specializes in miniature horses. The gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 3 p.m. daily, and you can drive in, park and watch the minis and their hilarious babies -- 18 born this year -- to your heart's content. Admission is free; there's a donation box that's hard to pass up. And, of course, you can always take one of the minis home with you; the owners are reducing the herd and many of the minis are for sale.
