What are you doing this weekend? San Francisco's Exploratorium
If San Francisco is in your travel plans, set aside time for the Exploratorium — and set aside notions that it’s a “science museum for kids.” It’s partly that, but it’s also a blast for adults, and it’s as artistic as it is scientific. It’s fun, it’s food, it’s fog — and if you want to drink out of a toilet, you can. The Explo reopened in April in quarters that are triple the size of its old home in the Palace of Fine Arts. Now it sits at Pier 15 near the Ferry Building, so if you get bored with the more than 600 exhibits scattered among the galleries (not likely), there’s always the scenery. Here’s a look at some of the world-class wackiness — along with real learning — that awaits.
