Disney's planned new roller coaster to proceed at Dwarf speed
"The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train" will take you on a musical ride into the mine "where a million diamonds shine." (WALT DISNEY CO. / January 18, 2011)
On the drawing board is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, but don't look for anything too harrowing.
"We're thinking of this as somewhere between Barnstormer and Big Thunder," says Eric Jacobson, senior vice president of creative development for Walt Disney Imagineering.
The attraction is under development, but you should expect Snow White theming and vehicles inspired by the classic Disney animated film.
"When they come to the end of their journey, the cars are full of jewels, I guess, but they tip to the side to unload their cargo. So we're replicating that kind of swinging back and forth." Jacobson says.
But on the minus side, it will be the end of Snow White's Scary Adventures, which will be turned into a princess meet-and-greet called Princess Fairytale Hall.
"It's much more appropriate that they'll be in Fantasyland rather than Toontown. It's going to be adjacent to the castle and part of that royal experience," Jacobson says.
