I don't know much about Melbourne International Airport.
Heck, I can't say that I've ever taken a flight out of there, although the airport's three runways currently serve Delta Air Lines, Direct Air, US Airways, Baer Air and Airgate Aviation.
What would it take to entice me?
Well, a new travel package offering a Bahamas getaway out of Brevard County is enough to tempt me to make the road trip for take-off.
Melbourne International — mlbair.com — is the departure point for a new travel package that takes visitors to Abaco Beach Resort at Boat Harbour. A fixture in the Bahamas since 1955, Abaco ranks among the island's prime marina and resort properties.
The package offers a four-night/five-day stay in the Bahamas for just $818 per person, including round-trip airfare on Baer Air out of Melbourne. It's a 90-minute flight.
You might be able to imagine the attractions in the Bahamas, but the Abaco folks have been kind enough o outline some of them:
There's access to a center console boat for a day to explore the Sea of Abaco's islands, cays and beautiful sand bars. Or you can linger on white sand beaches or explore reefs, world-class fishing and snorkeling.
The package includes:
•Ocean-front accommodations overlooking the beautiful Sea of Abaco
•Breakfast each morning at Anglers, the resort's harbor-side restaurant.
•Snorkel adventure through the Sea of Abaco and its crystal clear ocean waters.
•Ferry ride to historic Hope Town on Elbow Cay, the "Nantucket of the Bahamas."
•Full day's use of your own boat, complimentary use of resort fitness center, tennis courts and wi-fi.
•Round trip airfare out of Melbourne International Airport on Baer Air.
The four-night/five-day adventure package is available for the following weeks: Oct. 27-31; Nov. 17-21 and 24-28; Dec. 8-12, 22-26 and 29-Jan. 2; Jan. 12-16 and 26-30; Feb. 9-13 and 23-27; and March 9-13 and 23-27.
For reservations, call your travel agent or call the Abaco Beach Resort direct at 1-800-468-4799.
