Name: Innergie PocketCell Duo
What it is: A compact, 6,800-milliampere-hour capacity rechargeable lithium battery with two high-performance 2.1 AMP USB ports for charging two devices simultaneously. Innergie says the PocketCell Duo can recharge an iPhone as many as four times or an iPad 50 percent on a single charge. Comes with Innergie's Magic Cable Trio with an Apple-compliant 30-pin connector, a micro-USB and a mini-USB. The battery is designed to charge more than 10,000 USB-powered devices, including smartphones, tablets, MP3 players, portable game consoles, GPS devices and more. The PocketCell Duo features SmartCharge technology to rapidly charge a device with the correct amount of power without overheating or overcharging. Measures 3.7 by 1.7 by 0.9 inches and weighs 4.67 ounces.
The good: I love the size and power of this sleek backup battery. It charged my iPhone 4S 21/2 times with numerous apps running, so I believe I could get complete charges if I exited all apps and turned off Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It quickly recharges my iPad about 30 percent with a few apps running, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi active. I love being able to charge two devices simultaneously. I carry Innergie's mMini AC15 wall-socket charger, priced at $14.99, so that when I'm near a wall outlet I can charge the PocketCell Duo while it's recharging my devices.
The bad: I wish it incorporated a wall plug on one end so I wouldn't need to carry a separate USB wall-socket charger.
Cost: $89.99 (often discounted to $78.57 on Amazon)
