Beyond Boobs! will unveil the 2016 “A Calendar to Live By!” at its popular Pink Carpet Gala on Sept. 19. The fundraising celebration includes food, an auction and raffles.

The calendar features breast cancer survivors and their stories. Each calendar also contains “A Guide to Caring for Yourself,” offering essential and potentially life-saving breast health information.

Previous calendars have received awards from the Calendar Marketing Association. Beyond Boobs! has celebrated the calendars with an annual fundraiser since 2007.

Megan Boyle of Purple Owl Photography shot the new calendar. This year’s theme will be revealed at the gala. Models for the 2016 calendar will attend the event as special guests.

“The Gala is an uplifting, fun evening that epitomizes the very essence of what Beyond Boobs! is all about — empowering young women diagnosed with breast cancer to use their diagnosis as a catalyst for positive transformation and to help other young women,” said Mary Beth Gibson, the organization’s co-founder, in a prepared release.

Marketing and events manager Vicki Vawter calls it the organization’s “Oscar night.”

“It’s a time for Boobers! to really shine and feel even more beautiful than they already are,” she said in a prepared release. “For the rest of us, it’s a time to feel inspired, hopeful and get a real sense of what it means to live life with an exclamation point.”

Beyond Boobs! both supports young women diagnosed with breast cancer and provides breast health education for all. The non-profit has chapters throughout Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Texas.

The gala is scheduled for 6 p.m., Sept 19 at the Double Tree by Hilton, 50 Kingsmill Road. Tickets are $75 per person, and all proceeds benefit the nonprofit.
