Looking for an inexpensive, fun activity for school age kids this summer? Parents can check out a variety of Vacation Bible Schools offered at several churches throughout greater Williamsburg.
VBS can provide parents with an inexpensive and fun way to engage their youngsters in a positive, safe environment. Themes for the programs run the gamut from adventure to music. Kids can meet new friends, participate in crafts and learn Biblical lessons. Some programs are held during the day, others in the evening.
James River Baptist Church said many families who aren’t members send their kids to their program.
“Our goal is to reach out to people who aren’t members,” Shiver said in an interview Friday. “It is a very positive thing, and it helps us to reach out to some of the families who haven’t found a church home yet. If a child comes out with a positive experience about VBS, it says something about the church.”
Shiver said that annually 75-100 kids participate.
