Jim Smith Sr. started at a HVAC distributor in Norfolk, Virginia working in the warehouse.  He worked there for over 7 years.  During this time he advanced to warehouse manager, then to parts manager, and finally to sales manager of the branch.  In 1971 Jim was given an opportunity to start a contracting business in the Williamsburg area.
