Here are some hints and tips for who does what before, during and after the wedding.

Maid of honor duties

Help bride shop for dress.
Help bride shop for bridemaid's gowns.
Coordinate bridesmaid's dress order, payment, fittings and dressing.
Plan shower and bachlorette party.
Arrange bridesmaid's travel and lodging.
Create a wedding day emergency kit.
Adjust bride's train at altar.
Hold bride's bouquet during vows.
Carry groom's wedding ring.
Sign marriage license as a witness.
Make a toast to the couple.
Help direct vendors -- caterer, videographer, etc.
Collect gifts brought to the reception.
Help organize post-recption party.
Return bride's dress to the dry cleaners.

Best man duties

Help groom shop for formalwear.
Plan the couple's shower and bachelor party.
Spread word about the couple's registry.
Arrange groomsmen's travel and lodging.
Organize groomsmen on wedding day.
Carry bride's wedding ring.
Sign marriage license as a witness.
Give officiant their fee.
Make first toast to the couple.
Help direct vendors -- caterer, videographer, etc.
Help give out final payments.
Collect gifts brought to the reception.
Help organize post-recption party.
Drive newlyweds to their wedding night hotel.
Return all tuxes.

Bridesmaid duties

Father of the bride duties

Rent your formalwear.
Help pick up out-of-town guests from the airport.
Travel with bride to the ceremony.
Greet guests in receiving line.
Toast the newlyweds after best man makes his speech and groom responds.
Do father-daughter dance at reception.

Mother of the groom duties

Help groom put together his guest list.
Choose your wedding day outfit.
Plan rehearsal dinner.
Greet guests in receiving line.
Do mother-son dance at reception.

Father of the groom duties

Rent your formalwear.
Plan rehearsal dinner.
Greet guests in receiving line.
