Maternity Ward Molester Flees OC Courthouse
SANTA ANA -- A search is under way for a Garden
Grove hospital employee who fled a courthouse just before a jury convicted
him of sexually assaulting six patients in a maternity ward.
A district attorney spokeswoman says Dante Arnaud, 41, a blood technician at the hospital, had posted $250,000 bail and was not in custody while the jury deliberated inside the Orange County courthouse.
However, he was ordered to remain in the courthouse during the deliberations, but apparently fled the building.
The jury deliberated about 30 minutes before convicting Arnaud of six counts of sexual battery by fraud and one count of sexual penetration by misrepresenting his professional purpose.
The judge issued a warrant for Arnaud's arrest when he failed to appear for the verdict.
