New York is packed with museums, so how do you choose? The choice is easy: Escape the masses at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and head to the Frick Collection, just off Fifth Avenue on the Upper East Side. This jewel box of a museum (No. 2 on the TripAdvisor list) houses a high-quality collection of European masterpieces by Rembrandt, Boucher, Turner and Gainsborough, among others; small bronzes; 18th century French furniture; and porcelains housed in six galleries within the former mansion of industrialist Henry Clay Frick. There's no better place to cool off during a sweaty New York summer than in the museum's Garden Court. Upcoming: "Renaissance and Baroque Bronzes From the Hill Collection," Jan. 28-June 15.
