Paul’s Deli and Neighborhood Restaurant earned a trifecta of recognition in The Virginia Gazette’s 2017 Best Of Williamsburg contest.

“That really means a lot,” said owner George Tsipas. “We strictly work on our reputation.”

The awards include best local hangout, best local nightspot and best Greek/Mediterranean restaurant.

“To me, the world ‘local’ means a lot,” Tsipas said. “It means a lot that the local people support us the way that they do.”

The range of the awards helps showcase the establishment’s diverse offerings, with a menu featuring pizza, burgers, subs, seafood and pasta dishes, among other options.

Given the restaurant’s lengthy hours of operation, families can enjoy a variety of cuisines over lunch or dinner, and later, the night owls of Williamsburg can enjoy drinks and midnight meals.

With Paul’s New Town location, Tsipas said he’s glad to see the area drawing more events and performances, which is an effort he helped foster. He hopes for bigger and better things to come in 2018.

Tsipas also emphasized his support of other local establishments, as everyone competes for a piece of the pie alongside heavyweight chains.

“There are so many options nowadays,” he said. “My goal is to support local restaurateurs.”

That support relies on the community at large.

“We can’t thank them enough,” Tsipas said.
