In the years Beyond Boobs has published “A Calendar to Live By,” the annual calendar has remained a symbol.

“It’s a symbol of hope and inspiration, because it’s full of stories of survival,” said Vicki Vawter, the organization’s marketing and events manager. “And that’s really important when you have such a horrible disease like (breast cancer). You want hope, and you want to see that.”

Beyond Boobs unveils the 10th edition of “A Calendar to Live By” at the 10th annual Pink Carpet Gala on Sept. 17. The 2017 calendar models, all breast cancer survivors diagnosed with the disease at or under age 50, will be the evening’s special guests.

“Our mission is to improve the lives of young women diagnosed with breast cancer,” Vawter said of Beyond Boobs, a Williamsburg-based nonprofit.

The Pink Carpet Gala raises funds for the organization and, in launching the annual calendar, promotes the Beyond Boobs mission to educate.

Each calendar contains “A Guide to Caring for Yourself,” with information on early detection, breast cancer myths, coping, healthy living and wellness, Vawter said.

“It has so much information that we want everybody to know,” she said.

The 2017 calendar, as the 10th anniversary edition, features the work of twelve photographers. It also includes remembrances of former calendar models lost to breast cancer, according to a Beyond Boobs press release.

The 10th anniversary gala promises both enjoyment and excitement with dinner, drinks, dancing, raffles and the usual fare accompanied by a Beyond Boobs announcement.

“They’re going to expect to see a little bit of looking back, and a little bit of looking forward,” Vawter said of the gala.
