Break out the bid paddles; Child Development Resources is holding its 39th annual Bid ‘n Buy Auction to raise money to support programming for developmentally delayed children.

According to their website, CDR has served the Historic Triangle for 50 years, providing child care to 1,000 babies and toddlers annually who are developmentally delayed or at risk. Money raised during the organization’s auction goes directly to maintaining those programs, said Betsy Edwards, special events coordinator.

Last year, the event raised about $200,000 and CDR hopes to reach that milestone again this year, Edwards said.

The auctions will be both silent and live and feature hundreds of items. Auction items range in value from $25 to $25,000 and consist of jewelry, furniture, gift cards, car washes and more from both local businesses and private donors.

“There’s something for everyone,” Edwards said.

There’s more to the event than the auction, however. Music, children’s activities, face painting, a petting zoo and a food court round out the day, Edwards said.

CDR is raffling off a donated 2017 Jeep Wrangler Sport as part of the event. Tickets are limited to 2,000 and come are one for $25 or five for $100, Edwards said.

Those who are curious about what’s in store at the auction can view items at cdr.org/auction, which goes live March 1. The event is free and open to the public.
