Another event once in limbo as a result of the Kimball Theatre’s closure is moving forward. Coyote Run, a Celtic rock band from Williamsburg that disbanded in 2012, is performing one more show for hometown fans at the Crosswalk Church on Richmond Road Saturday.

“Word started getting out and it was really exciting,” said band leader David Doersch.

The band sold out shows at the Kimball across multiple years in the past, and it had already sold hundreds of advance tickets for the reunion concert when Colonial Williamsburg announced it was closing the theater on July 6. Although William and Mary has since signed a lease for the property, it was too late for Saturday’s show. The church offered a venue in time for the concert to go on as scheduled.

Coyote Run began performing in 2000. The band’s unique blend of bagpipes with rock and roll led to multiple CD and DVD releases as well as tours across the U.S. and Europe, where they performed in front of thousands.

“It’s a rich, very fun environment,” Doersch said, emphasizing the concert’s family friendly atmosphere with plenty of dancing.

Birkenmeyer can be reached by phone at 757-790-3029.
