The Dewey Decibel Concert Series is gearing up for its 17th year this month.

“We get good attendance — sometimes we will fill the theater,” said Barry Trott, special projects director at the Williamsburg Regional Library. “The lineup this spring offers a mix of old time, big band, classical and jazz. It has that real interesting mix you can’t see elsewhere in the community.”

The series kicked off on Friday at the Williamsburg Library Theatre with performances from the Wild Honey Band and the Langley Winds and Heritage Brass.

On Feb. 10, there will be a performance honoring 20th century composers such as Vincent Persichetti and Arvo Part.

Trott said the series will feature everything from regional to local to national acts.

“The focus is primarily on any traditional music,” Trott said. “The idea is to bring a variety of interesting and eclectic acts to the community.”

The lineup also includes two 11 a.m. family friendly shows on Feb. 25 and March 11. The first will be a performance by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s French Horn Duo and an opera performance of the children story “Three Little Pigs.”

All other performances take place at 7:30 p.m.

“The upcoming concert season will feature both familiar and new music,” said Rob Haas, Program Services Director, in a news release. “There’s something for all to come out and enjoy.”

There are some free concerts and some ticketed concerts, depending on the performer, according to Trott.

Other scheduled performances include:

*Higher Ground Big Band, Feb. 24

*The Virginia Symphony Orchestra’s French Horn Duo, Feb. 25

*The Virginia Opera, March 1
