Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport to host Drone Day activities

International Drone Day flies into Williamsburg Saturday with displays and demonstrations meant to educate and excite.

The unmanned aerial vehicles have grown into a popular hobby, with than 40,000 sold each month. Hundreds of teams of enthusiasts across the globe intend to use Drone Day to showcase the positive uses personal drones possess, including law enforcement, environmental conservation, agriculture and art.

The Williamsburg event will feature aerial photography and videography, search and rescue demonstrations and drone racing.

International Drone Day launches from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport, 100 Marclay Drive. Rain date is Sunday. Event is free and open to the public.
