Iron Chef Meets Taste of Williamsburg participants announced

Iron Chef Meets Taste of Williamsburg will once again showcase tastes and talents from around Williamsburg’s culinary scene.

The Greater Williamsburg Chamber and Tourism Alliance, partnering with Williamsburg Area Restaurant Association to present the competition, recently announced this year’s participants.

In its 23rd year, Taste of Williamsburg will feature creative samples from Berret’s Seafood and Taphouse Grill, Blue Talon Bistro/The Trellis Restaurant/DoG St. Pub, Copper Scroll, DoubleTree By Hilton Williamsburg, Fort Magruder Hotel and Conference Center, Great Wolf Lodge, MAD about Chocolate, Riverwalk Restaurant, Rocco’s Smokehouse Grill and Sweet Tea and Barley at the Colonial Williamsburg Lodge.

Beverage vendors this year include Brass Cannon Brewery, Alewerks, Andes Importers, Break Thru Beverage, Republic National Distributing, Roanoke Valley Distributing, The Country Vintner and Williamsburg Winery Limited.

Taste of Williamsburg judges will decide the Critic’s Choice Award, Toast of the Taste Award and the Chef William Swann Award for Best Themed Presentation. Meanwhile, guests decide the People’s Choice Awards for favorite food and favorite beverage exhibitors.

Iron Chef, in its seventh year, features the following competitors: Chef Barry Scruggs from Bonefish Grill, Chef Bill Berning from Williamsburg Inn, Chef Bobby Sturgeon from Seasons Restaurant and Bar, Chef David McClure from Berret’s, Chef Frank Lang from Great Wolf Lodge, Chef Ian Robbins from Café Provencal, Chef Michael Ellis from Williamsburg Lodge, Chef Patrick Williams from Opus 9 and Chef Robert Love from Second Street Bistro.

This is the second year Taste of Williamsburg and Iron Chef have combined into one event. The competition is scheduled for June 9, and according to a recent news release, tickets are selling fast.
