As the William and Mary men’s basketball team faces off against Old Dominion University on Dec. 1, a different showdown will also occur.

The fourth annual Shoeless Showdown aims to raise awareness for children and adults in need of shoes in the area, organized by C&F Bank, The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg Salvation Army and Chick-fil-A.

The showdown, and the basketball game, begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1 in Kaplan Arena.

Individuals who bring a new pair of children’s or adult’s shoes for donation will receive a free ticket into the game.

Donors also receive a voucher for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich, a $10 voucher for C&F checking account and a ticket to an upcoming William and Mary basketball game.

Shoes will be donated to the Salvation Army.

“We have many in the area in need of new shoes,” Major Karen Hasty, of the Williamsburg Salvation Army, wrote in a prepared release.

And Shoeless Showdown exceeded its goal for the past three years, according to Hasty.

Kaplan Arena is located 751 Ukrop Way, Williamsburg.

For those hoping to donate shoes but unable to attend Tuesday’s game, shoe donations can be dropped off at any C&F Band in the Williamsburg area.
