The College of William and Mary Theatre Department announced its 2018-19 season, which sees the season’s productions moving to the Kimball Theatre while the college’s Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall undergoes renovations.

The season commences with “The Children’s Hour” Oct. 4-7. Lillian Hellman’s play tells the story of two women running a school for girls as they deal with the consequences of a student’s lie and the subsequent scandal. The college recommends the mature work for ages 13-plus.

William and Mary’s annual “Dancevent” returns Oct. 25-27, this time showcasing original works from dance faculty members inspired by the ongoing celebration of 100 years of women at the college.

The department turns to musical comedy with “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” Nov. 15-18 and Nov. 29-Dec. 2.

The season continues in the spring 2019 semester with “Our Lady of 121st Street” Feb. 21-24. The dark comedy follows a nun’s former students as her body goes missing from the funeral parlor and old wounds among friends resurface.

“An Evening of Dance,” another William and Mary tradition, showcases stories told through movement from the minds of student choreographers and members of the college’s Orchesis Modern Dance Company March 21-24.

The season finale further commemorates the 100th anniversary of co-education at the college with “& Mary” at the Wren Building, where the first 24 women students made history in 1918. The new piece explores the history of the location as contemporary students reflect on progress made. Students will showcase original work inspired by the site, incorporating movement, sound, music and more.

Tickets range from $7-20, depending on the event, available at wm.edu/boxoffice. William and Mary students get in free with ID.
