York County is encouraging citizens to apply for appointments to the York County Arts Commission, an advisory body under the county Board of Supervisors that focuses on arts and culture.

The commission oversees the York County Arts Commission Grant Program, which reviews requests for funding from area arts organizations in order to make recommendations to the board regarding how funds should be distributed. The group also keeps tabs on grant recipients to ensure organizations are meeting established terms and conditions.

The commission meets in January, July, October and sometimes June.
