133rd anniversary celebration of St. John Baptist Church

Saint John Baptist Church will celebrate its 133rd anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 22. At 11 a.m., the Rev. Cora Harvey Armstrong, a recording artist and minister of the Word of God, will preach. Music will be provided by the Gospel Chorus. Dinner will be served afterward. At 3 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Reginald Davis, pastor of First Baptist Church-Williamsburg, will deliver the anniversary message. Sunday school starts at 9 a.m. This week's lesson is entitled, "God's Plan is Better," based on 2 Samuel 7:1-6, 8-10 and 12-16. Classes are available for ages 3 through adult age. Students will discuss what it means to submit their plans to the greater one that God has. St. John is at 1397 Penniman Rd., where everyone is welcome.
