37th ANNUAL POQUOSON SEAFOOD FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 20-22, 2017

The City of Poquoson presents the 37th Annual Poquoson Seafood Festival October 20-22, 2017 in Poquoson Municipal Park, 830 Poquoson Avenue, Poquoson, VA 23662. The Festival honors the Working Watermen of the Chesapeake Bay and the rich coastal heritage of Poquoson. It includes musical entertainment, juried arts & crafts show, dozens of food vendors and children's area. Coastal kick-off events are on the Festival web-site www.poquosonseafoodfestival.com and updated weekly. The events are all family-oriented and offer something for everyone.

Holding with its rich tradition, the Festival will feature outstanding regional and local musical entertainment on the Cub Cadet Outlet of Yorktown Municipal Stage. Local and regional legend Slapnation will appear on Friday night, October 20, 2017. On Saturday, October 21, 2017, join us for a great musical l line-up including The Super Jazz Big Band, Bad Ace and Gator Head. On Sunday, October 22, 2017 musical entertainment is expected to include The Mullins Sisters and Danielle Eljor. Additional entertainment expected during Festival weekend includes the Poquoson High School Band, Poquoson Islanderettes, Poquoson Dance Academy, The River Gypsies, Lite Bru, Soul Patch, Crazy X, Eric Insley and The Heather Edwards Band, all appearing on the Taylor's Do It Center Food Pavilion Stage.

As in years past, the Poquoson Seafood Festival hosts the Poquoson Art League Juried Arts & Crafts Show, one of the larger arts and crafts shows and sales in the state of Virginia with approximately 160 artisans expected to exhibit a myriad of outstanding crafts and original art work.

Living up to its name, the Poquoson Seafood Festival offers some savory dishes from the surrounding waters in the Farm Fresh Food Pavilion. Crab cakes, shrimp, oysters, clams, clam chowder, soft shell crabs, catfish, she crab soup, and many other Festival favorites will be available for purchase.

Also, don't miss the many exhibitors found along Municipal Drive who will have items of sale and interest.

Additionally, Festival-goers will want to avail themselves of the exhibits and other activities found on Daily Press Municipal Field. Included among them:

*Entertainment strolling in The Kid's Korner Children's Area and on the Taylor's Do It Center Food Court Stage Will feature magicians and amusement rides on Daily Press Field.

*Sponsored by Bayport Credit Union, The Working Waterman's Heritage Display Exhibit features numerous activities showcasing the history of the City and the heritage of the Chesapeake Bay Working Watermen.

*Outstanding musical and children's entertainment throughout the weekend will include Rainbow Puppets Production, Inc., Monroe the Magnificent. Additionally, The Catch of the Day Kid Contest presented by: The Poquoson Fire Co. & Rescue Squad's Ladies Auxiliary will be held Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 10am on the Cub Cadet Outlet of Yorktown Municipal Stage. New in 2017, The Teeny Tiny Farm's Baby Zoo will be feature a children's petting zoo on Saturday, October 17 from 10am-2pm on Daily Press Field.

Please note: Guests are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets for all concerts on Municipal Field.

From 1-64 take the Poquoson Exit (256B) to Victory Blvd. /Rt. 171. Remain on Rt. 171 for approximately 5-6 miles. Follow signs leading into the Festival Parking Area.

Parking for the Disabled
From 1-64 take the Poquoson Exit (256B) to Victory Blvd. /Rt. 171. Remain on Rt. 171 for approximately 5-6 miles. Tum left on Wythe Creek Rd. Tum right on Hudgins Rd. Bear right on Hudgins Rd. onto Poquoson Ave. Tum right on municipal Drive. Parking attendant will direct vehicles at this point. Handicapped sticker and accompanying identification will be required.
