The collaborative art project, 9 Women 9 Months, continues its journey of empowerment from Williamsburg's Sentara Hospital to Avalon Center, where the works will now benefit survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The proceeds earned at Sentara benefited women in need of financial assistance for mammography services.
The collection was created by 9 local female artists, each contributing to the canvases their interpretation of themes regarding the lives and experiences of women. 9 Women 9 Months includes Caregivers by April Altman, Devotion by Sharon Parker, Healing by Lori Jakubow, Motherhood by Caroline Garrett Hardy, Patterns by Jenny Loveland, Perseverance by Ginny Fisher, Sustenance by Sue Danehy, and Transformation by Laurie Rokutani.
