A fun afternoon at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center

On Saturday, February 18th, members of the Greater Williamsburg Chapter, Peninsula Chapter, and Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of Virginia(NFBV) came together for a fun filled afternoon to attend the performance of Sister Act at the Downing-Gross Culture Art Center in Newport News..

Access Virginia, a nonprofit organization provided audio descriptions which explained the settings, the costumes and nonverbal actions of the actors. This enabled us to understand what was going on throughout the play. There was laughter and clapping throughout the performance. Afterward the cast came down to greet the audience and we took pictures together.

We left with a fun and easy living feeling and we all agreed that
plays are just one more activity that the blind can enjoy as we live the lives we want.
