Appalachian Cherokee Nation Tribe Meets August 8, 2015


The Appalachian Cherokee Nation Tribe continues to move forward toward it's goal of Virginia State Recognition.

On August 8, 2015, The Appalachian Cherokee Nation Tribe will meet at the Williamsburg Library, 515 Scotland Street, Williamsburg, VA. 23185

Members are reminded to please bring 4 items of non-perishable foods, preferably canned goods, to each meeting for donation to food pantries.

Principal Chief Marshall Lone Wolf Couch, has announced that portions of each meeting will be devoted to the study of the Cherokee language and a review of research documenting the history of the Cherokee in Virginia. The Tribe began it's study of the Cherokee language during it's July meeting with an introduction to the written Cherokee Alphabet.

The Tribe is currently in search of a permanent home in which to house an Office, Cultural Center, and Museum since the building in Montross, VA.which formerly served as headquarters for the Tribe has been sold.
