Black History Month observed

The Temples of Praise dance ministry will present a "Lift Every Voice - Let Freedom Ring" commemorative program at 10:30 a.m. this Sunday, Feb. 21, at St. John Baptist Church. Excerpts from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech will be read, and the names of those who have recently been killed will be read and remembered with the ringing of the church bell. Also Sunday, Youth4Christ and the Children's Choir will sing songs reminiscent of Black History Month. The youths will lead the service, and Pastor Walter Hudson will preach. Children's Church will be available for ages 5-9. Following worship service, members will display their artistic talents in the Fellowship Hall and Choir Room, and a mini-reception will feature "A Taste of Soul." Attendees are invited to wear cultural attire. St. John is at 1397 Penniman Rd., where everyone is welcome.
