Bluegrass Faith Festival

New Kent - Providence Forge Presbyterian Church and Rockahock Campground have partnered to present the Sixth Annual Bluegrass Faith Festival on September 17 and 18, 2016. The festival has been a huge success in the past years which prompted the expansion to two days. This event was introduced as a way to promote faith and fellowship in the community, with proceeds benefitting the building fund at Providence Forge Presbyterian Church (PFPC).

The musical offerings this year have expanded to include Southern Gospel and Praise bands as well. The full lineup for this year includes: Rappahannock Crossing Bluegrass Band, The Harvesteers, Mercy's Well, The Itzels, Highway 249 Bluegrass and Heritage performing on Saturday. Bluegrass favorite Mark Templeton and Pocketchange will be participating in the Sunday worship service.
As in past years, Saturday will be a day-long family celebration along the river. Tickets for Saturday, September 17, will offer admission to the entire day of music and activities including a Silent Auction, festival vendors, and Classic Car Cruise-In. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult. Additional free activities for children include bounce houses and a jumping pillow in the Kidszone. Festivities, food and music will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude at 8:00 PM. The evening will finish up with the showing of the movie "The Risen" in the Rockadome. Sunday's Worship Service, led by Pastor Steve Hodges will begin at 10:00 am and all are invited to attend. Mark Templeton and Pocketchange will be participating in the Worship Service as well as performing after a lunch break into the afternoon.

The festival is a faith based program designed to attract Christian families, friends and neighbors to gather for a day of fellowship, food and bluegrass music. Rockahock campground, on the Chickahominy River, has partnered with PFPC to host the event. Rockahock is known as a popular setting with ideal facilities that can easily manage large crowds and concerts. This location has proven appealing to the featured artists who will be joining this year's lineup.

Last year's event drew a huge crowd and enjoyed a perfect weather day. The open-air facilities and renowned lineup of artists proved to be a big draw from many surrounding areas. The event was sponsored through corporate and personal donors.
