On March 2, Boys Home of Virginia's Greer Education Center celebrated the National Day of Reading. The National Day of Reading is traditionally a recognition of Dr. Seuss's contribution to children's reading programs. The middle school students at the Greer Education Center on campus celebrated this event in true Dr. Seuss form. They wore pajamas to school, completed reading marathons, and had special snacks. The boys were excited to wear pajamas to school and spend time during class reading books.
The Greer Education Center at Boys Home has been serving young men on campus for over 10 years. It offers small class sizes and individualized instruction for residents at Boys Home. The Greer Education Center works in conjunction with Alleghany County Public Schools, allowing our young men to graduate from the Alleghany County School system. Boys Home of Virginia is currently serving close to 60 residents with close to 30 residents attending the Greer Education Center.
