BUTTERFLIES AND THE PLANTS THEY NEED - On Saturday, June 18th, at 10:00 a.m., Adrienne Frank, butterfly enthusiast and Virginia Master Naturalist from the Historic Rivers Chapter, will help us learn how to identify local butterflies as well as when and where we might see them. Although butterfly caterpillars need host plants as a food source, adult butterflies need nectar plants, so Adrienne will teach us which plants are good host plants and which are good nectar plants for the different butterfly species. Her Freedom Park presentation is part of the Learn and Grow Educational Series sponsored by the Williamsburg Botanical Garden and will be held in the Freedom Park Interpretive Center. The program is free, although a $5.00 donation to help the Garden grow is appreciated. Following the program, Master Gardeners will be in the Botanical Garden to answer questions and talk about what is in bloom. For butterfly questions, contact Adrienne at adrienne-gary@cox.net .
