Butterfly festival at Williamsburg Botanical Garden Aug. 1 & 2

It is with great excitement that, to celebrate their 10th anniversaries, Williamsburg Botanical Garden and Virginia Master Naturalists Historic Rivers Chapter offer to our community a Butterfly Festival at the Williamsburg Botanical Gardens at Freedom Park on August 1 and 2, from 9:00-5:00 each day.

The funding for this program was made possible thanks to the generous support of the Williamsburg Area Council of Garden Clubs.

This festival has several parts, but the main and most exciting focus will be a butterfly tent with over 200 butterflies enjoying those hot August days. This tent and butterflies, provided by Virginia Master Naturalist Catherine Short, will provide a wonderful opportunity for both children and adults to see hundreds of native butterflies close up.

There will also be tables set up with information on local nature groups such as Colonial Nature Photography Club, Virginia Master Naturalists, Williamsburg Botanical Garden, and Master Gardeners.

Some picnic tables will have independent activities for children as well as a costumed butterfly volunteer wandering around looking cute.

We will also offer educational programs for families, children, and adults throughout the two days. This will be a great opportunity for families to both educate and celebrate our beautiful native butterflies....please come join us.
