Williamsburg Community Foundation is thrilled to partner with Chesapeake Bank, who has committed to supporting a scholarship for local students in 2018. The Chesapeake Bank Scholarship, which is intended for students who wish to pursue a career in financial services, is one of over 50 scholarships that will be awarded through the Williamsburg-James City County Scholarship Fund. This is a community-wide effort to recognize the accomplishments of local students as they graduate from high school and support their further educational achievements. In June 2017, 51 scholarships valued at $61,600 were awarded to local students. Funds raised to support scholarship come from individuals, families, high school parent-teacher associations, civic groups and local businesses like Chesapeake Bank.
Students from graduating in 2018 from Jamestown, Lafayette, and Warhill High Schools are eligible to apply. The application is available online: https://williamsburgcommunityfoundation.org/apply-for-a-scholarship/
Deadline to apply is March 18, 2018 at 8pm EST. Scholarships are awarded in consideration of these factors: curriculum difficulty, class rank, extra-curricular activities, application essay, and financial need.
