Colonial Capital Kiwanis learns about American Revolution Museum at Yorktown

Homer Lanier, Interpretive Manager of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation recently presented a program to the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital about the building of the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown which replaces the old Yorktown Victory Center. Mr. Lanier said the mission of the museum is education and will include six classrooms dedicated to teaching facts about the war. There will be many new features and exhibits and a large theater with a very wide screen to show how the battle of Yorktown was conducted. The center remained open during all the construction period and the new museum was partially opened in March of 2015. A preview opening will occur in October of this year and the formal opening will be on April 1, 2017. Pictured above (l to r) are Club member Don Swain, Lanier, and Club President Pete Webster.
