Colonial Capital Kiwanis learns about Dominion's James River Crossing Project

Stephanie Harrington, Manager of Electric Transmission Project Communication for Dominion Virginia Power, recently presented a program to the Kiwanis Club of Colonial Capital about the project to build a high voltage transmission line across the James River to a proposed switching station at Skiffes Creek. Dominion says the project is important to provide reliable electric power to the lower peninsula because of the required shutdown of the Yorktown coal fired plants which will occur in April of next year. The project has been under review for five years by various approval authorities including the Army Corps of Engineers. Many alternatives have been under consideration but Dominion says the overhead transmission line project is the most cost effective. Pictured above are Club member Rama Skelton and Ms. Harrington.
