On Saturday April 18th, Colonial Heritage hosted the fifth "MS Walk in Colonial Heritage." The walk met its $5000 goal netting over $5500 from participants and a raffle for Multiple Sclerosis research. Around 110 individuals participated in this year's walk as a walker, volunteer or donor. This year we had 80 registered walkers, of which 25 were from residents outside Colonial Heritage. I am hopeful that everyone went home with a positive impression of our walk. As a result of the increased outside participation, I am looking forward to a Williamsburg Community Walk at Colonial Heritage for 2016.
As part of our walk, we feature a cookout, followed by a raffle to raise additional funds for MS Research. The Walk Committee asked many merchants throughout Williamsburg for a raffle item. This year we had over 60 raffle gifts valued at over $1500. With the merchant's help we raised an additional $962 at the raffle for MS Research. So we graciously thank our merchants: Aberdeen Barn; Laceworks ; Anna's ;

With the money we raised, researchers can hopefully find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, a sneaky disease that affects each individual separately and can be masked so you don't know you have the disease. While there is currently no cure for this debilitating disease, research has discovered disease modifying drugs that can slow down the disease and help restore dignity to those afflicted. Research is why:
We walk to raise money for MS Research;
We walk for our loved ones, relatives and friends;
We walk for those with undiagnosed MS; and
We walk for a world free of Multiple Sclerosis
