Community volunteers help Avalon Center enhance counseling services

Avalon Center working to end domestic and sexual violence, has enhanced services to individuals at the Avalon Emergency Shelter Campus by creating a new counseling center on site with offices for the full-time children's counselor and adult counselor. Thanks to collaboration among and contributions from several community entities, the project encompassed transforming a former storage and multipurpose space into the counseling center. Bruton Builders led by Lou Nucci of Bruton Parish Church, working with Grace and Tony Bascetta of A'More Enterprises, and BB&T Williamsburg collaborated to bring the project to fruition. Over several months, these community volunteers provided expertise, time, energy and resources to repurpose existing structures. The old spaces were renovated and refurbished with counseling and office equipment to accommodate new clients.
