WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia - The proud "cowboys" and "cowgirls" double-downed their support of Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center at its Cowboys Uncorked benefit on November 8, 2015. Dream Catchers' leadership team had a target of raising $21,950 and lassoed $42,600 net profit-194% of its goal--at the 4th annual fundraising event on Sunday, November 8, 2015.
Held at the Williamsburg Winery, Cowboys Uncorked drew 300 attendees, the most ever, and making it a sell-out since the event began in 2012. The rodeo-themed fundraiser, complete with cowboy fare, country line dancing, "quick draw" gunslinger competition, "hats & boots" competition and a "flip the cards" raffle, was a hit.
The highlight included 18 popular local celebrity "arrestees" who raised "bail" donations. The "most wanted" award went to Sally Derrig for raising $7,130 followed by "Miss Julia" (a.k.a. Leighton Strader) with $6,450 and The Pilates Center at $5,861.
Cowboys Uncorked was made possible thanks to generous sponsors including Title Sponsor Malvin, Riggins & Co, PC, Jailhouse Sponsors Susan and Tom Chamberlain, Boot Scootin Boogie Sponsor EVB and major in-kind sponsors: The Williamsburg Winery, Big Top Entertainment, The Catering Company, Wedmore Place and Shawel's TV & Appliance.
Proceeds from the event are used to support the mission of Dream Catchers, a non-profit organization that provides 100 life-changing therapeutic riding lessons and other horse related activities each week to children and adults with special needs in Hampton Roads and Richmond.
