DAR First Thanksgiving Day Festivities

On Sunday, November 1, 14 volunteers from the Williamsburg Chapter, NSDAR, assisted with the activities at Berkeley Plantation's annual First Thanksgiving Day festivities. Dressed in 18th-century attire, the volunteers did a multitude of jobs including meet and greet, dipping candles, corn husk doll making and so on. As part of Celebrate America Daughters of the American Revolution provide 8,000,000+ volunteer hours to communities nationwide and the Williamsburg Chapter over 18,000 hours annually. At day's end the staff at Berkeley provided a lovely thank you dinner for the Board of Directors and DAR volunteers. In spite of the "English-like"weather, the crowds swelled to over 1,000.
