DAR Honors Veterans

The Williamsburg Chapter NSDAR celebrated and honored veterans in all branches of the armed services during their November meeting at Colonial Heritage Country Club. Mrs. Doreen Pascella's 4th grade class from Providence Classical School performed a medley of military theme songs. Members listened to retired US Navy Captain Reinetta Vaneendenburg describe her experiences over the last 35 years as the role of women in the US Navy evolved and grew. Capt. Vaneendenburg has authored a book which is due to be published in 2018 entitled "Waves to Warriors: The Story of Female Naval Officers, from Support to Spear Tip" by McFarland Press. She is also a contributor to the Armed Services Arts Partnership inaugural collection "Common Bond: A Veteran's Chapbook". A copy of the book was donated by the DAR to the WJCC Regional Library in honor of Capt. Vaneendenberg.
