Reaching out to its members and the public on the importance of patriotism, education and historical preservation, The Williamsburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution invited Colonial Williamsburg Foundation Historical Interpreter Mark Schneider to be the guest speaker at their March 7 meeting at the Colonial Heritage Country Club. Mr. Schneider gave an outstanding performance as the "Marquis de Lafayette" as he explained how the infamous nineteen year old Frenchman first came to America to offer support and aid to the struggling Colonies as they battled for independence from England. Mr. Schneider has also portrayed many characters for CWF on site and in educational films and documentaries such as James Madison, Benedict Arnold, Banastre Tarleton, and the Comte de Rochambeau. He has portrayed Napoleon Bonaparte internationally, marching on horseback through the Brandenburg Gate and receiving the same key to the city that Napoleon did in 1806. Pictured are Chuck & Marianne Pryor, Mark Schneider, Leslie Skinner and Kim Defibaugh.
